It blew the chicken biscuit out of the water for me. However the cinnamon roll was amazing!!! So worth the calories. Now don't get me wrong it was better than Bo time, but it didn't change my life. It really was just a biscuit with a piece of fried chicken. I think I ordered wisely and I enjoyed it however, that being said-I was not blown away by it. I can say that my chicken biscuit was yummy. I had the chicken biscuit and cinnamon roll and my husband had the cheddar cheese and egg biscuit and a blueberry muffin. The line moves quick and the food comes even quicker. My husband and I added to the traffic line when we ate here for the first time this past weekend.

UNC students, if you haven't tried this place the morning after a late night out, then you have not had the full Carolina experience yet. After the perfection of the chicken biscuit, it is great to end the meal with one of their sweet (and cheap) cinnamon rolls. And the melting cheddar cheese takes it over the top. The chicken is juicy and the biscuit is buttery goodness. My go-to order is the chicken biscuit with cheese and a cinnamon roll. There is a door that you can walk in and order if you get lucky and get one of the few coveted parking spots. Even if the line looks long, it moves incredibly fast. But don't let that discourage you, because it is worth the wait. It is not uncommon to see the line extend out onto Franklin Street. Looking at it from the outside, you would not think much of the place, but the drive thru line will tell you otherwise. Chapel Hill proudly boasts about the cheddar chicken biscuits at Time Out, but to me, Sunrise takes the prize. Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen is my favorite chicken biscuit spot in the area. This is the quintessential breakfast spot in Chapel Hill. The biscuits and ingredients are all quality, and the end product is incredible. The employees are all friendly and proud of what they are a part of. Sunrise is absolutely worth going out of your way if you are in Chapel Hill. The sweet tea, on the other hand, is way above average and they give you a huge cup of it. The hash brown that comes with the combo is very similar to the one you get at McDonald's. They use quality cheddar cheese that is melted perfectly on top.

I really think what makes the biscuit stick out is the cheese. If you want proof that they are made from scratch, you can just look in the window at the woman covered in flour. They are flaky and not the least bit dry. The biscuits at Sunrise are made from scratch and absolutely awesome. I ordered this the first time that I came here and I've been stuck on it ever since.

I would review multiple items on the menu, but the only problem is that I've only ever ordered one thing, the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit. Sunrise definitely knows what they're doing. Even though the line is always long, it goes quite quickly. If you don't want to wait in this line, you also have the option of parking in the small lot and ordering inside. Sunrise traffic literally blocks a lane of traffic and it is just totally accepted and expected by those local to Chapel Hill. If you come to Sunrise during breakfast on just about any day of the week, the line of cars will overflow out into the street. I will say that they deserve all of this high praise. Sunrise has been featured on multiple food shows and has received multiple accolades and awards. Disclaimer: I went to undergrad at UNC and my love for this place could be biased and colored by nostalgia.
